Application to TUM
Application for VISA
- Apply at the German Embassy at 14th Floor, Far East Shopping Centre, 545 Orchard Rd.
- Requires form-filling and might take up to 8 weeks.
Application for Accommodation
- IMPT!! Contact Frau Petra Ritter (ritter@zv.tum.de) and Frau Froehlichs (froehlichs@zv.tum.de) with particulars (name, DOB, exchange student etc. ) telling her of your status. Ask them for advice and see if they can help with accommodation. Request from Frau Froehlich a document or e-mail confirming your acceptance by TUM for the Exchange Programme. Also, 'cc' the mail to wohnraum@zv.tum.de (for accommodation).
Things to do in Singapore
- Regarding airfare, it may be possible to get a subsidy from TDB for students going overseas to study for the first time.(...a rumour I heard)
- If you are male, apply for exit permit at CMPB. May be require to inform Unit if you are reservist.
- Photocopy important documents
- Apply for foreign driving license (S$20) if you want to drive in Germany
- Apply to SSAG (student association)
Things to do in Munich (Preferred if the first 4 things are done in that order)
- Open a Bank Account
- Set up Accomodation (then inform bank of address)
- Apply for Insurance (about 100DM/mth. Compulsory. Required for residence permit, TUM enrollment, employment etc)
- Matriculate at TUM (45 DM/semester)
- Apply for MVV card at Poccistrasse
- Anmeldung at Kriesverwaltungsreferat at Poccistrasse
- Heath Check (required for residence permit and requires yellow form) and application for residence permit (costs 80 DM and must be done before Visa expires (usu in 3 mths)) at Poccistrasse.
- Apply for Lohnsteuerkarte if doing IA at Poccistrasse (where Anmeldung is done). Furthermore, you probably need letter from TUM to certify that industrial attachment is compulsory for you.
